Welcome to the FiveMinuteFriday episode of the SuperDataScience Podcast!

Today, is our final episode of 2019!

I just had a conversation with my brother and his girlfriend over dinner. We were talking about who inspires us. We often need inspiration in order to accomplish goals and do good things. The interesting thing is the person who inspires you doesn’t have to be someone famous. My brother, when asked this question, said his girlfriend inspired him. She recently thought outside the box to get more students for her math tutoring. She took a chance and got a good return.
On the other hand, he inspired her because of his work ethic and dedication. My brother also inspires me to watch his work progress evolve. These are all people who are around us daily and not huge celebrities. It’s something important to note that people so close to you, who are sometimes taken for granted, can teach you a lot that you don’t expect.

This is FiveMinuteFriday, episode number 326, Who Inspires You?

Welcome back to the SuperDataScience podcast ladies and gentlemen, super excited to have you on this final episode of 2019. How exciting is that? The year has gone by. I hope you had a fantastic year. Hope you were able to accomplish a lot of things, but also observe and perceive different things in life because accomplishment at the end of the day is not… Life is not all about accomplishment. Sometimes it’s worth to stop and smell the roses. In fact, most of the time that’s, that’s the best thing to do.
And we were just having dinner with my brother and his girlfriend and we had an interesting conversation I wanted to share that I think will be a great parting note for 2019. We were talking about who inspires you. So we often in life need some sort of inspiration to do great things, to maybe accomplish things at work, help others slow down, observe life, do good things for ourselves, for the world, for the planet and so on.
Just something that we can be proud of, something that, it really makes a difference. And so we were just discussing who inspires us or who inspired us recently. And it was interesting that turns out that the person that inspires you doesn’t have to be a great celebrity, doesn’t have to be somebody on the news. It can be somebody nearby. I’ll give you an example. So when I asked this question, my brother’s reply was that it’s actually that his girlfriend inspires him, because she, the way she set up, like basically she does this, she does tutoring and mathematics and she invested $100 into paying for an advertisement so that her per tutoring ad would be at the top of the list. And that was like a big move for her because there was something that I’m guessing she hadn’t done before or thinking outside of the box.
And that helped her get more students to tutor and help. And for him that was an inspiration because she had done something that was out of her comfort zone that pushed her forward. That was more of a business decision, was more of a like an investment decision was a risky thing to do. It was $100, which was quite a bit of money for a student still studying. But nevertheless she did that and that get a good return investment. So that’s risk-taking and that kind of not being afraid of stepping ahead, stepping outside of your comfort zone. That was inspiring to him. And for her on the other hand, he was inspiring because he’s been working on this course and every time she comes to his place, he’s always working. He’s always recording some courses on robotic process automation and he’s always in front of his computer he’s always working. He’s very dedicated and that dedication is inspiring to her.
And for me also, my brother was inspiring in that case because of how he was preparing, doing a lot of pre-work and having very slow progress, ineffective. He was procrastinating a lot. But then at one point he just like sat down and made himself work. And since then he’s been making massive strides in this undertaking and that was very inspiring to me. And in all those examples, reflecting back was interesting that these are all people that are around us and even though they’re not huge celebrities or they’re not people that everybody in the world knows, those are the most inspiring people to us. So my call to you at the end of this year would be look back on your year end. See who is it that inspired you to be a better person, to do something great, who impressed you in a way that made you want to also be better, made you want to also take a step forward.
And see, see who comes to your mind, who are the first one or two, maybe three people that come to mind and maybe since the year’s coming to an end, it’s worth letting them know that they inspired you, worth telling them that “Hey, you inspired me to do a great thing this year. I hope I do that for somebody else next year”. And let’s hope that we all live our lives in a way that we inspire someone else to be better, to do better things, and to do great things for others as well.
On that note, we’re going to wrap up 2019. Thank you so much for being here, for being part of the SuperDataScience community. I can’t wait to see you in 2020 and until then, happy analyzing.
